McKinley Landen is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker working in private practice in Birmingham, Alabama. McKinley provides outpatient mental health counseling for clients starting with individuals (18 and up) and couples. McKinley considers it a great privilege to sit with clients as they do the difficult and vulnerable work of counseling. It is an honor for her to support her clients in their healing processes.

McKinley works from a client-centered, strength-based approach with a trauma and attachment focus to meet clients in each of their unique needs. McKinley specializes in working with individuals and teens with attachment disruptions or complex developmental trauma, couples work, and trauma-related issues. 

McKinley has a Bachelor of Human Development and Family Sciences from Samford University and a Master of Social Work from Samford University. McKinley has professional experience with outpatient levels of care. McKinley has most recently worked as an outpatient therapist at a local non-profiit where she provided counseling to a diverse client base specializing in attachment and trauma issues.

McKinley utilizes Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help those affected by complex trauma. McKinley is also certified to provide the Prepare/Enrich assessment for both premarital and marriage therapy clients to work towards more connection and healing in their relationship.McKinley is also trained in Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) to work with couples from an attachment-based perspective. 

McKinley and her husband live in the Birmingham area with their two pups. She enjoys going on walks, spending time with friends and family, and reading a good book in her spare time.
